In my professional area, I’ve seen this shape out in the negative way too often. Someone has a particular skill and instead of teaching and helping others, they hoard the tool themselves. A more efficient process could be created, but they look out for their own security only. I like that you deem it a competitive fear.

From a parent standpoint, I’m really watching myself to make sure I don’t fall into the trap of comparing a 7 month old to her peers. As she grows, she will craft her own attributes and will excel at some things and not at others. We must allow her the flexibility to find her specialness and then hopefully help others as well.
